One of the valiant freedom fighter Surya Sen was also known as 'Masterda'. He was a teacher of Umatara High School at Chittagang. British Government arrested him in 1924 and kept in prison for four years without trial. Under his leadership the Chittagang Armoury was attacked. he led the freedom fighters secretly. He was arrested in 1933 and was hanged.

Birthday of Surya Sen will be observed in a befitting manner on 22 March, 2010 in front of High Court at 5 p.m. Wreath placing will be arranged on behalf of State Government. Apart from Govt. officials, other persons will also pay their homage on the occasion.
