The Third Annual Sports Meet For The Street And Working Children

The Third Annual Sports Meet For The Street Children under " Integrated Programme for Street Children" and trainee children under "Eradication And Control Of Juvenile Beggary And Vagrancy" has been inaugurated by Women & Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Biswanath Chowdhury at Bidhannagar Sports Complex (field - 2) on 26th February, 2010. The eminent sports personalities P. K. Banerjee, Compton Dutta and Chairman of the Bidhannagar Municipality Biswajiban Majumder have been present at the inaugural programme. More Than 600 children from 24 NGOs and 6 units participate wholeheartedly in different events. These children, who have little scope for real recreation, enjoy the meet a lot. They have also been provided with a full uniform set for the occasion. The entire programme has been passionately carried-out by the office of the Controller Of Vagrancy under the department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal.
